ADMISSION CRITERIA

The Governors of Sacred Heart School are responsible for the Admission Policy and allocate places in accordance with the list of categories below in descending order:

CATEGORY 1 Catholic Looked After Children
(Evidence required: baptismal certificate and priest's supporting letter)
CATEGORY 2 Catholic siblings who regularly practise/attend Mass at St Mary Star of the Sea Church
(Evidence required: baptismal certificate and priest's supporting letter)
CATEGORY 3 Catholic children who regularly practise/attend Mass at St Mary Star of the Sea Church
(Evidence required: baptismal certificate and priest's supporting letter)
CATEGORY 4 Catholic siblings who regularly practise/attend Mass in other parishes
(Evidence required: baptismal certificate and priest/minister's signature)
CATEGORY 5 Catholic children who regularly practise/attend Mass in other parishes
(Evidence required: baptismal certificate and priest's letter)
CATEGORY 6 Baptised Catholic siblings
(Evidence required: baptismal certificate)
CATEGORY 7 Baptised Catholic children
(Evidence required: baptismal certificate
CATEGORY 8 Other Looked After Children
CATEGORY 9 Children with older brothers and sisters at the school
(Evidence required: name of children attending school at time of admission)
CATEGORY 10 Baptised practising Christians
(Evidence required: baptismal certificate and priest/minister's signature)
CATEGORY 11 Baptised Christians
(Evidence required: baptismal certificate
CATEGORY 12 All other applicants

In the event of there being more children in any category than can be accepted, a decision will be made using the distance between home and school, which will be calculated using the County Council's GIS system, which measures the shortest available route using surfaced passable routes, with the place being given to those who live nearest.

REGULAR PRACTICE IS DEFINED AS EVERY WEEK OR THREE OUT OF FOUR WEEKS

Our admission number is 30 in the Foundation and Key Stage 1 classes
